Papal visit : Cofton Park, Birmingham

We  have had a tremendous response: twenty-two parishioners are going to the Beatification Mass (originally we were allocated only nineteen places). So far we have two parishioners going to the Hyde Park Vigil - this is a trickier event to organise as it requires accommodation in London.

Two pupils and one member of staff from St John's School have been specially chosen to attend the Pope's celebration of Catholic education at St Mary's, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham.

More details at:                        www.thepapalvisit.co.uk

We will have to provide our own seating or ground covering for the Beatification Mass. Fr Chris can obtain a supply of fold-up stools for around £3 each. If you would like one to take on the coach, please let him know ASAP.

Heart Gives Unto Heart:

The Papal visit internet radio station will broadcast from 7am to midnight each day: 14th to 20th September to cover the Pope's visit:

St Michael's School: a possible new building?
It is fairly well known now that there are ideas in the pipeline  for the purchase of a new building to support the new state-funded Catholic Secondary School initiative. We do have an account open; if anyone is aware of any monies that just might be available, with the proviso that they will be returned in full if the scheme does not proceed according to plan, we can start our fundraising campaign now! At the moment we are at the stage of waiting for a response to our formal application for a new school status .....
A Day With Mary
There will be a Day With Mary at Downside Abbey, Stratton-on-the-Fosse, Somerset on Saturday 29th August from 10.00am to 5.30pm. There will be a full programme: Procession, Angelus, Litany of Loreto, Posary, Mass, outdoor Exposition, Sermons, Meditations etc. Please see the poster on the noticeboards for full details.
Walsingham 'Cornish' Pilgrimage 2010:
This year's pilgrimage runs from 10th-16th October. The cost is £315 - a £20 deposit (non-returnable) secures a booking. Please see the poster on the board and contact Christine Pearce for further details.
CPR Foodbank:
The churches in Camborne, Pool and Redruth have organised a scheme to provide food for the needy. Fr Chris has a book of food vouchers; these can be redeemed at YMCA, Redruth and Centenary Chapel, Camborne. There will be boxes for non-perishable items if you would like to comtribute to the scheme from time-to-time.
